Speed, Agility, & Mental Training

GL Soccer is excited to offer a new training option focused on speed, agility, and mental performance. Led by Matt Kurtz, this program is designed for players who want to grow in more than just physical ability. Through a unique blend of athletic training and mental skills coaching, players will improve how they move—and how they think.

Meet Matt Kurtz

  • Certified Performance Coach & Mental Health Professional - NASM-CPT certified and currently working as a youth therapist, Matt combines physical training with mental resilience coaching for long-term athletic success.

  • Collegiate & Professional Soccer Experience - Matt played collegiate soccer at BYU and professionally in Australia, bringing real-world insight to every session.

  • Background in Psychology & Counseling - Matt holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from BYU and a graduate degree in Substance Use Disorder Counseling. He helps athletes strengthen mindset, identity, and performance.

  • Founder of MENTAL: A Health Collective Gym - He has coached over 100 athletes and 10+ athletic teams, creating programs that blend speed, agility, mindset, and personal development.

  • Author, Speaker & Creator - Matt is the author of Why Didn’t I Die? and regularly speaks to youth about overcoming adversity and building mental strength. He also shares insights online at @mental.ahealthcollective.

Program Description

Each session is built to develop explosive footwork, game-ready speed, and elite agility—all tailored to the demands of soccer. With 250–350 purposeful foot contacts per session, players will improve acceleration, cutting, and deceleration through soccer-specific drills and movement patterns.

 

Using video feedback and technology, we analyze where each athlete is at and create a personalized plan to optimize their performance. As a NASM-Certified trainer, I blend proven training methods with mental performance coaching, giving players tools to stay focused, confident, and composed—on and off the field.

 

What Each Session Delivers:
   •    250–350 intentional foot contacts focused on first-step quickness, lateral speed, and deceleration
   •    Soccer-specific movement patterns to translate speed and agility directly to in-game play
   •    Video analysis + performance tracking to personalize drills and improve movement efficiency
   •    Mental performance tools to help players manage nerves, mistakes, and pressure situations
   •    A progressive plan tailored to each athlete’s current ability and long-term development

1-on-1 Personal Training (1hr) – $80
Group of 2 Players (1hr) – $100 ($50 per player)
Group of 3 Players (1hr) – $120 ($40 per player)
Group of 4 Players (1hr) – $160 ($40 per player)
